The densely packed posts of the "Shot at Dawn" memorial...

Very interesting, what's that all about??

@Alun Lambert: It is a memorial to soldiers shot at dawn in WWI for desertion. Most of these were men who suffered shell shock and have since been pardoned. The memorial consists of about 300 (or maybe more) wooden posts with a plaque giving the name and age of each man shot. These form a semi-circle around a statue of a soldier blindfolded for the firing squad.
It was a very moving memorial - I have tried to angle the shot through the posts to get a feeling of being in amongst them. From this angle the posts look like tree trunks, but without any growth - a sort of dead forest.
I like the retro feel of the film grain. For a war memorial, it works very well. I'm assuming you did post-processing though, because you just don't get graininess like that at ISO 125, surely, unless it's some camera preset.

@Peter Roberts: To be honest I didn't have much time - just shot a few off on auto and then messed about on the PC with it. It isn't quite what I originally had in mind, but I'm more than happy with the result.
It's a great photo, and a very poignant reminder

This is a magnificent shot of this very poignant memorial. This place is vast, I have to make a return visit, as I've only seen a small portion of the place. I have a collection of shots from here that I will post one day. :)
